with StoCretec Floor Coatings

Thermoplan AG in Weggis in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland develops and produces highquality professional fully automatic coffee machines for the gastronomy and other professions. The family business operates worldwide, but according to its own working identity, it still is "a Swiss-made company through and through": The company manufactures the fully automatic coffee machines in Weggis, with around 80 percent of the suppliers utilised being Swiss manufactures.

In the summer of 2024, Thermoplan opened its fifth plant, called "unique", at its home venue doubling its weekly production capacity with five additional integrated production areas as well as logistics facilities and office space. The modern production and all workplaces were set up according to the latest standards. The investor attached great importance to an electrostatically conductive floor coating in its production and assembly areas in order to protect the sensitive components. The decisive factor here was the guaranteed conductivity values even at a relative humidity of 12 percent. To ensure safe walking, the floor should have slip-resistance class R10. Our StoCretec electrically conductive coating system StoFloor ESD KU 614, with its excellent properties and its cost-effectiveness, was able to meet the requirements of this construction project. The approximately 6,000 square metres of floor space in the new production line were equipped with our volume-conductive system.

Conductive Floor with State-of-the-art Technology

StoFloor ESD KU 614 meets all common ESD standards. Its ESD performance and mechani?cal resistance are excellent. An additional sealing coat is not required. This saves time during installation. The conductivity of the StoPox KU 614 epoxy resin coating is almost independent of the relative humidity. Even at a low humidity of 12 percent, the requirements of the relevant ESD standards for conductivity are perfectly met. The epoxy resin, which is available in numerous colours, is not only functionally impressive. The absence of carbon fibres leads to a homogeneous appearance and enables light colours. The material offers very good flow properties an low consumption. StoPox KU 614 is used primarily on mineral substrates in new buildings and for floor coating refurbishments.

For the approximately 4,000 square metres of corridors and hallways of the new production and office building, a robust and resilient floor coating was planned that shall withstand the daily hustle and bustle. Durability and a high-quality appearance were also decisive criteria. Our StoCretec all-rounder StoFloor Industry BB OS offered the best solution. The resistant floor coating system is low in emissions, durable and radon-tight. With the StoDivers matting agent (StoDivers Mattierungsmittel), it is made slip-resistant (class R10), ensuring additional safety in the bright rooms. StoFloor Industry BB OS is equally suitable for pedestrian traffic and transport vehicles. The self-levelling epoxy resin system has already proven its reliable functionality in numerous projects for many years
